Requirements

Rules and Guidelines

Participants must be current users of SEDC utility software. Each utility can submit up to two (2) entries.

Videos must be less than three (3) minutes in length and must be submitted in one of the following formats: QuickTime/MOV, WMV, MPEG, or AVI. The recommended minimum dimensions are 640 pixels wide by 360 pixels high.

Winners of the First, Second, and Third Place prizes will be determined solely based on the number of votes cast on the contest site.

The message of the video should be both creative and positive. There should be no derogatory material in the video toward any individual, group, or product. Any item submitted that is deemed derogatory will be disqualified.

The video must incorporate SEDC products, support or sales being spoken of and/or the SEDC logo being shown. The video may also include the same for SEDC's subsidiaries, Arista Information Systems, Futura Systems, and ATS.

The video should not contain any advertisements or endorsements of any kind and must not infringe on any third-party rights.

All entries must be uploaded to SEDC's Video Contest page at http://contests.viddler.com/SEDC/sedc-video-contest-2017 in order to be eligible for voting. Uploads will be accepted from Monday, November 27, 2017, until Friday, December 8, 2017.

Every participant in the video and the utility's General Manager/CEO must have signed the SEDC Publicity Release Form. Fax the completed form to Attn: Video Contest at 770-414-1122 or scan and email the form to news@sedata.com.

Video(s) and release forms are due by 11:59 PM EST on December 8, 2017. Late entries will not be accepted.

The video must be original work and not previously submitted for any contest or event.

Upon entry into the contest, the video becomes the sole property of Southeastern Data Cooperative, Inc. (SEDC).

The judges' decisions and voting outcomes are final.

Winners must provide copies of the original video files to receive cash award.

Prizes will be distributed to the General Manager/CEO at each winning utility.

Terms and Conditions

HOW TO ENTER. Utility Entrants (“Entrant”) may enter the SEDC Video Contest by submitting up to two (2) videos as directed through via the SEDC Video Contest page at http://contests.viddler.com/SEDC/sedc-video-voltage-awards-2017. Videos must adhere to theme as announced and include the SEDC logo. Entry materials must contain the Utility’s name and the Utility must be identified in the video in order to enter. All video submissions must be in QuickTime/MOV, WMV, MPEG, or AVI format and no more than three (3) minutes in length.

ELIGIBILITY. The competition is open to all SEDC Member Cooperatives and Utilities. Participants must be over the age of 18. Participation in this Contest is void where prohibited.

RELEASE. Entrants must complete the Publicity Release Form in conjunction with contest submission.

TIME PERIOD. The entry period for the Contest will be recorded on the entry page of the Contest Website, http://contests.viddler.com/SEDC/sedc-video-contest-2017. All entries must be received no later than the advertised deadline, shown on that same page. Entries will not be returned. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for lost, mutilated, late or misdirected entries.

VOTING. Voting begins at 1:00 AM EST Monday, December 11 and ends at 11:59 PM EST Thursday, December 14. Voters do not have to be utility employees, but must register their name and email address at http://contests.viddler.com/SEDC/sedc-video-voltage-awards-2017 in order to cast a vote. A voter may cast only one (1) vote every twenty-four (24) hours during the voting period. Winners for the First, Second, and Third Prizes will be determined by vote tally at the end of the Contest Voting Period. In the case of ties, a winner or winners will be selected by SEDC staff. SEDC employees will develop additional categories and choose the winning Utilities for those categories from amongst the entries.

OFFICIAL RULES. By participating in this Contest, Entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules. By submitting a video, Entrant acknowledges that Entrant understands and agrees that Sponsor’s use of materials containing features and elements similar to or identical with those contained in Entrant’s entry materials does not entitle Entrants to any compensation. By entering, Entrants waive any rights of action against Sponsor in connection with Sponsor’s use of any material (or any part thereof), whether or not the material contains features or elements similar to or identical to those contained in Entrant’s entry materials. Entrants agree to release Sponsor from any and all claims, injury, loss or damage arising in any manner, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in the Contest. Entrants further authorize to SEDC the right to use Entrant’s name, biographical data, city and state of residency, and entry materials in all media, worldwide, now known or hereafter discovered, for any purpose, including without limitation, in connection with, and to promote, market, or advertise the Contest and SEDC products. Entrant remains solely liable for all content Entrant submits or posts on the Website or through the Contest. Sponsor takes no responsibility and assumes no liability for any content posted by Entrant, stored or uploaded by Entrant or any third party, or for any loss or damage thereto, nor is Sponsor liable for any mistakes, defamation, slander, libel, omissions, falsehoods, obscenity, pornography or profanity in Entrant’s submissions. By submitting any materials, Entrants certify that such materials are original and created by Entrant, that Entrant has the necessary rights, permission and authority to submit such materials and that Entrant maintains a valid copyright to the materials. Participants agree that any dispute arising out of this Contest shall be resolved individually without class action and exclusively by the state and federal courts in Atlanta, Georgia, under the laws of Georgia without regard to that state’s conflict of law principles.

CONDITIONS. All entries are final upon submission. Sponsor reserves the right and has absolute discretion, to review, remove, reject, disable access to, screen, edit, or disqualify any entries, subjects, or related materials posted or stored on the Website that Sponsor deems inappropriate or otherwise inconsistent with its editorial standards, audience expectations or reputational interests, or that Sponsor believes may violate applicable law or the rights of a third party. Entrant is solely responsible for creating backup copies of and replacing any content posted or stored on the Website at Entrant’s sole cost and expense. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to verify any element of any entry or related materials, request additional information and to disqualify any Entrant whose participation may subject Sponsor to controversy, negative publicity, scorn or ridicule. Sponsor is under no obligation to use the entry materials, but may do so and edit such information or materials, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, without further obligation or compensation.

COPYRIGHT; LICENSE. By submitting materials through the Contest Website, Entrant agrees and intends that such materials become the sole property of SEDC. To the extent applicable law grants Entrant a continuing copyright on any content submitted through the Website, Entrant grants Sponsor and its affiliates a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, exclusive license to publish, reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt, edit, modify, translate, create derivative works based upon, and otherwise use and sublicense such content throughout the world in any form or media. Without limiting the foregoing, this grant includes the right to make editorial revisions to the content, to use and publish the content in any manner and form, including electronic, on the Website or in other media, whether now or hereafter created; to use the content for internal business purposes; to reproduce and distribute the content for marketing and publicity purposes, and to sublicense the content to third parties for any reason.

TAXES. For US entities, it is the policy of SEDC to send a Form 1099 to any Entrant who wins a Prize in excess of $600 (USD) in any given year. However, Entrant remains solely responsible for paying all federal and other taxes in accordance with the laws that apply in Entrant’s state and/or country of residence. Entrant will be required to provide accurate information to receive any Prize. If requested information is not provided, SEDC reserves the right to void any Prizes.

DISCLAIMER. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify the terms of the Contest at any time.
